B.Sc in Media Science is designed to produce competent media professionals to work in the Print, the Electronic and the Web media industry. The course is tailored to produce professionally oriented Graduates who can work in the field and also be effective media managers. This course has been developed and designed to meet the ever growing demand for personnel with specialized skills and knowledge in various aspects of the media industry.

Salient Features

  • Teaching methods consist of lectures, seminars, practicals, written assignments, project work, field visits, individual reading, research, problem solving and practical attachment.

  • The practical teaching uses equipment commonly used in the media industry.

  • The department boasts of three fully functional digital video cameras – Panasonic P2HD Cam, Sony HD DV Cam and a Sony Handy cam for all Video Production practicals. 

  • The department has an in-house Nikon DSLR Camera for all practicals of Photography module.

  • The department houses two state-of-the-art microphones and a digital audio recorder for practical modules of Radio

  • The BMS Department boasts of a fully equipped Media Lab with four Apple iMacs as Video Editing Consoles as well as housing software of PageMaker and In-Design.

  •  The Department also consists of a LCD Movie Viewing Hall with a vast DVD Library consisting of World Cinema, Hollywood Cinema, Indian Cinema and Regional Cinema.

  • The students of BMS participate as Delegates every year at the Kolkata International Film Festival

BMS ODD Semester class will commenced from 19th July,2017.

 Practical Examination dates for BMS are 25,26,27 th May 2017

Students are required to submit all projects by 10th May to the department.
