On the other hand optometry entails providing 'one-stop shopping for eye and vision care. According to a World Health Organization survey, India will require 40,000 qualified optometrists by this year 2020 as against the 8,000 who have currently set up shop across the country, Which is yet to be full field (Source: WHO official webpage).

MODE OF TEACHING: It consists of lectures , Seminars, Webinar, Practical’s, Hands on session with real patients ,Assignments, Project work, Clinical case study ,Industry visits ,Community eye camps etc. LABORATORY FACILITY: The lab in the department of B.Optometry is well equipped, and is equipped with state of art facilities for the under-graduate course..Different sections in labs in the department are:
EYE CLINIC: B.Optometry department has one dedicated community eye clinic where our students primarily involves in eye exams and vision tests, prescribing and dispensing corrective lenses, detecting certain eye abnormalities and prescribing basic medications for certain eye diseases. This set up give students hands on experience and thereby and prepare them better for their future professional field..
LIBRARY:It has a well-organized library with easy book search and reading facility. The library consists of a Central Library and 2 divisional libraries which collectively support the teaching, research, and Journal and extension programme of the Institute..
INTERNSHIP & PLACEMENT:At Pailan College of Management & Technology we have a dedicated Placement cell which work all year round to communicate with different companies, doing industry interface, establish proper corporate relationship which gives edge at the time of internship training & placement. We have structured grooming training placement modules to prepare the students to crack the placement opportunity given to them from time to time. We focus on both technical & soft skill grooming and make them industry ready. We have MOU with few eye care industry for their short term and long term training..

B.Opt online classes on “Curricular beyond Syllabus” will commenced from 5th August, 2020.

“I'm Arindam Mukherjee, first batch of B. Optometry department 2003-2007 batch.
In that period Pailan was the only college who have own eye clinic for the students to learn practically a lot in this field from 3rd semester onwards (how to interact with patient, how to see a patient & do complete work-up).
This gave us a immense platform during competition of internship & job.
Full credit goes to our that time HOD Dr Ranjan Mukherjee & our Chairman Mr Apurba Saha.
Now I'm serving Disha Eye Hospital since last 13 years. I am also active member of Optometrist Association of India & Graduate optometry Association.
I'm sure; The future of Pailan Optometry department is very bright as they have few excellent qualified faculties like Monira & Kriti. Also have clinical teacher like Milan sir who is serving this eye clinic since the beginning 2004.”
