Do I need prior hospitality experience to apply?
Not at all. The course is designed to build your professional knowledge completely from scratch. Your curiosity, enthusiasm for the service industry, and willingness to learn are what matter most — not prior experience. Many successful hospitality professionals started exactly where you are now.
Can Arts or Commerce students apply?
Absolutely. BSc. HHA is open to students from all streams — Science, Commerce, and Arts alike. There are no stream-specific requirements. The programme starts from foundational principles, so everyone begins on equal footing.
Is there an entrance exam?
MAKAUT conducts a Common Entrance Test (CET) for several undergraduate programmes. However, some seats are filled through direct merit-based admission. We recommend checking the latest MAKAUT notification and contacting the admissions office for the most current process for your session.
How do I apply — online or offline?
Both options are available. You can apply online through the college's official website by filling out the admission form. Alternatively, you can visit the campus, collect the form in person, and submit it along with your documents. The admissions team is approachable and happy to guide you through every step.
What documents are needed at admission?
You will need your Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates, passport-size photographs, a valid ID proof (Aadhaar card is accepted), a caste certificate if applicable, and a migration certificate if you studied under a board other than West Bengal. Always carry originals and photocopies when visiting.
Are scholarships available?
Yes. Government scholarships including the West Bengal Merit-cum-Means Scholarship, SC/ST/OBC scholarships, Kanyashree Prakalpa for female students, and national scholarships via the NSP are all applicable.
