The stream Electronics and Communication Engineering shortly named as ECE is one of the B-Tech courses approved by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology). It involves researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic equipment used in various systems. Electronics and Communications engineers also conceptualise and oversee the manufacturing of communications and broadcast systems. This stream of engineering deals with analogue transmission, basic electronics, microprocessors, solid-state devices, digital and analogue communication, analogue integrated circuits, microwave engineering, satellite communication, antennae, and wave progression. It also deals with the manufacturing of electronic devices, circuits, and communications equipment. We have teachers with vast experience in academics, research and having Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills which helps develop a strong bonding with the students to guide them towards a clear vision. The programme provides a platform to develop interpersonal skills, leadership skills and social responsibilities through classroom activities, industry academia interface and extra-curricular activities. Special attention is given to make the students industry ready through training of soft skills and including role plays, simulations in the teaching pedagogy.
The field of Engineering is indeed vast, and among all the streams that it comprises, electronics and communication engineering is one of the best. The main aim of this stream is to help the students in building their theoretical as well as practical skills so that they are professionally equipped to work in the analysis and system implementation as well as the maintenance of the various applications in this field. It also develops rational approach towards constantly evolving technologies with ethical responsibilities. That will help them in future to participate in life-long learning in the relevant domain for addressing global societal needs.Seminars and workshops are conducted regularly by industry professionals and academicians to acquaint students with the contemporary industry practices.
The ECE Course under B-Tech programme consists of eight semesters spread over a period of four academic years. Each academic year consists of two semesters.
Minimum Eligibility 10+2 passed in any stream from a recognized board.Candidates are admitted to ECE courses through entrance exams, merit based or centralised admission process. These entrance exams include WBJEE, JEE Main.
Now, an electronics and communication engineer can also choose to work in avionics and aviation, electricity plant, consumer electronics, electricity plant, communication & telecommunication manufacturing, radio & television, transportation, computer application, diagnostic equipment manufacturing and offshore. This is one of the topmost job profiles to go for, when it comes to ECE. The very creative field includes radio, internet, satellites, and wireless telephonic communication modes wherein the skills range from developing these forms to researching, analysing, and evaluating the existing modes of communication, simultaneously working towards their betterment. With the ever-increasing technological advancements, the communication industry is constantly trying to level up when it comes to speed and reliability.
