Since inception, PCMT has gradually emerged as a reputed educational institution in Engineering & Technology. The Institute is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University & Technology (MAKAUT) (formerly known as WBUT) and duly approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India. PCMT has established the Civil Engineering Stream in the year 2014. The department possesses good infrastructural facilities, well-equipped laboratories, highly qualified and dedicated faculty members and the atmosphere conducive for research activities. This course deals with construction, design and maintenance of structures such as bridges, canals, tunnels, buildings, waterworks, airports etc. It also has the exposure in focusing the students need in imparting excellence and need based Technical Education for building up prospective career of the students. We are following the syllabus as per MAKAUT and the students may elect their subjects as per requirement. The syllabus is more practical oriented now with the new syllabus though our students usually learn more than specified in syllabus which is more industry oriented.

It starts when first someone place a roof over the head. Civil engineering deals with analysis, design, Construction and maintenance of physically and naturally built environment like residential, commercial, industrial and public work Projects of all Category of construction. They built and maintain our society infrastructures like road bridges, dams, canals, buildings railways airport etc. So there is a lot of scope for civil engineers in public sector, private sector and MNCs with various nature of Job like design, construction, drafting , technical marketing etc, because infrastructure development and maintenance is an eternal truth of human Society; when it Comes to the word infrastructure that means there is definitely need of civil engineer. So, the programme objective is to develop graduate Engineers to compete at the global level. To promote innovation of engineers to face the challenges of future and to contribute in the growth of country. To implement soft skills, leadership qualities and professional ethics among the graduates to handle projects independently.
The B.Tech. in civil engineering programme consists of 4 years for regular entry students and 3 years for lateral entry students. Each academic year consists of two semesters.
For Regular Entry – 10+2 passed in Science Stream with 45% marks in PCM combination from a recognized board along with valid WBJEE or JEEMAINS rank.
For Lateral Entry – Diploma engineering in any stream.
