Let us together dream of a new dawn for Pailan College of Management of Technology- a dawn forbearing excellence in all facets of the institution, a dawn of inspiration, of greatness, of a pinnacle of success. Let us dwell upon few thoughts on how to achieve this dawn.

This is the age of innovation and rapid change. The electronic and communication revolution, man’s enhanced capacity to explore the hitherto unknown spheres of science, and the power unleashed by new technologies, makes it imperative for us to open our minds to the emerging scenario and equip ourselves to meet the challenges of these changes. We cannot afford to be strangers in this new world. It is the responsibility of every Management & Technology Institution, therefore, to conceptualize and create new and appropriate technologies for the development of the nation. They must foster a yearning for research, for problem solving methodologies, for the development of new ideas, innovations and entrepreneurship amongst its students. And these new ideas and technologies must be carried to the workshops and production floors to benefit the common man even in our remotest villages.

To harness the ingenuity and industry of young India, that values quality and aspires to scale greater heights, the Management and Technology Institutions must change and move with the times. Curriculum planners must draw up designs that are not only more relevant and job oriented, but also futuristic. This will ensure better and ready employability. Besides, the students need to be encouraged to explore their own creativity, instead of reproducing received knowledge. Innovative practices need to be encouraged.

These days Management and Technology Institutions have to, ideally, encourage an integrated, interdisciplinary approach in teaching and research, so as to keep pace with the current scene. At the same time, establishing linkages with industry is also a must. Industry can finance research or can create chairs in the Management & Technology Institutions, both ways it serves the cause of higher education. A Management & Technology Institution provides the turf for free expression and exchange of ideas and opinions.

This makes the institution, academically and socially, a vibrant place. Quality education is the rock on which India must build her political destiny. Our country can be built not with bricks but with brains; not with cement but with enlightenment. If we do not educate our people, we cannot claim to be a civilized society.

The Management and Technology Institutions represent the bridge head of knowledge in the surrounding ignorance. Therefore, in our struggle against social backwardness in its many forms and against an obscurantist social outlook, these institutions are expected to play a specially important role. They must encourage their students to think anew to serve, to develop a sense of justice and equity and most of all, to be instruments of change. A Management & Technology Institution can grow successfully only when research and teaching mesh together seamlessly – one without the other is incomplete. Therefore, we have ensured the development of a collaborative environment conducive to learning, exposure to the best international practices and promotion of innovation and creativity.

At Management & Technology Institutions, the growth of each individual student should be our focus. We recognize that as we ‘work together and learn together’ students will be best able to achieve their potential. Expectations from students are high. We firmly believe that every student can experience success and go on to graduate as a responsible, resilient and confident young adult, well prepared to take charge of their future and to become a productive member of the community.

The Management & Technology Institutions must have highly qualified faculty in their respective fields of expertise. A large number of national and international conferences, seminars and workshops should be organized by such Institutions. Such events provide a variety of experiences to the students and inculcate skills such as leadership and team spirit which are helpful in their career. The faculty members should publish good quality research work in high impact factor journals of repute. There should be an active interaction between faculty and students in the campus. The learning experiences in the campus pave a strong path for enhancement of overall development of the learners.

Pailan College of Management and Technology (PCMT) is poised to reach its academic excellence under the able guidance of its eminent Board of Governors following the path suggested by the regulatory bodies and global experts in the area of academic leadership. This reminds me of a quote from Dr. Kalam : ‘We are all born with a divine fire within us.Our efforts should be to give wings to this fire and fill the world with the glow of its goodness’.

I wish the school all success.
